sIFR and an onigiri

I’ve intended to mention a recent update to the blog. I’ve decided to use sIFR to display my Japanese text. This way the Japanese characters will display regardless if the user has Japanese language support installed on their system (otherwise some might see ??? or [empty boxes]). Its a pretty cool concept. Javascript checks to see if flash is installed in the visiting browser, if so - it renders certain text in flash.

I’ve used sIFR before - nearly 3 years ago, on some other projects (personal and professional)… mainly to create nice looking headers by using fancy fonts that just aren’t normally available on computers… but recently I realized it would probably work for my purpose too.

Today was quiet (I like the quiet granted from working at the apartment - it allows me to think without interruption). I only left long enough to go to the QQ shop and grab a coke, then quickly run to the 7/11 to get a main dish for consumption. What I ended up with was an onigiri. Onigiri is a rice ball rolled up in toasted seaweed, sometimes with other things too. Today’s food had fish, egg, and cucumber.

Heres a picture for you.

Onigiri and Coke

Here is a test of sIFR, first lets display without sIFR enabled:

For some it will be a huge difference… for others it will just be a slight change in font style.

Ok, my next resolution is to make these posts shorter… the key to being consistent is not overdoing it (otherwise burnout quickly follows).

Not to be to classical American, but that Pepsi doesn’t look like a 20oz. Do they use a different unit of measurement? One thing I don’t think I have mention is Wow. There are so many foods over there no way you can try everything (OH I’m salivating) as soon as we perfect Teleportation I am totally coming for a visit.
