Wrong train again… Yakiniku and Miso Soup

Today I traveled to the office in Akasaka-Mitsuke.  The commute isn’t bad, I walk 10 minutes by foot to the train station, and take Keio-New line to Shinjuku.  Shinjuku is a very big station here in Tokyo, and many connecting lines meet there.  From Shinjuku I take the Marounochi line to Akasaka-Mitsuke.  Total commute about 40 minutes (including the walk).

Today I arrived at the local station and went to the same platform I always go to when catching the Keio-New line to Shinjuku.  What I failed to realize is that the train I jumped on was a train bound for a different destination.  Luckily for me it stopped in Shinjuku so I could get off, but it dropped me off on a side of the station I have rarely visited (so I had to consult a “You are Here” map to get my bearings).  Tack on 10 extra minutes to get my bearings and find my way to the other side of the station.

Learning experience - always look at the upcoming train’s final destination to determine where it will drop you off.

Tonight’s supper was tasty.  Yakiniku (meat on a stick with sweet bbq style sauce), vegetable soup with miso paste, and rice with shrimp.  I’m stuffed.  I’ll record what I ate in Japanese for practice:

きょうは わたしたちは やきにく と みそ スープ たべました。とても おいしい です。

On another note - yesterday was Setsubun festival in Japan. Essentially kids are encouraged to throw beans at monsters to scare them away during this day of the year (I guess monsters were destined to appear on this day…).

My coworkers made a silly video based on it. Here it is in all its strangeness:

Yeah, city transportation, even at it’s most routine and mundane, always has the chance to fuck up what you want to do.
It’s nice to have fresh content each morning when I’m checking my webcomics. Keep it up, my friend.

yeah, i like routine… i prefer not to have to think too much about the system and all its complexities.. i just want it to be an automated part of my subconscious…

im starting to sound like Jacob “automate” Hudson…
