Abbott Hanko
So today work was busy with meetings and doings. Nothing fantastic or new to report there. But I was surprised by the doorbell today, it was a delivery of some small package.
After opening it up later this evening we got to see our new hanko. Ayako had ordered the hanko on Monday - so turnaround time was really quick.
Essentially a hanko is our official seal. Instead of using your pen signature, in Japan you use a stamp for your most important documents (from bank documents, to government documents). Every family has one, and even institutions have them as far as I am aware. A simple little wooden stamp, with our family name uniquely carved on one end. And a small sponge of red ink to boot.
Very cool. If you are interested in seeing more, check out this hanko order page.
