Kinyoubi Pictures
Here we go, a few photos from the golden week trip. I just realized that the majority of the photos were taken with Ayako’s parents’ camera. All I have is a meager selection here, but I’ll post the best I have:

Shiroishi castle, which is a little south of Sendai. Reconstructed castle but rebuilt with incredible authenticity.

This volcano was amazing for me - the first volcano I’ve ever seen in person. Climbing the mountains by car to get to the top was even an event - everything was snow capped and full of breathtaking views. Here is the sign, and on the right in the background is the crater of the volcano that was last active a couple thousand years ago in the area of Zao Japan.

At a lookout peak of the volcano is a shrine, and all around are these piles of stones which act as grave markers. No one is allowed to be buried here anymore as far as I know, and many of these piles did not have visible dates - I can only assume they are many hundred years old.

A group of temples that spanned from the bottom to the top of a mountain attracts a lot of people every year. Near the bottom before starting the several-hundred-step journey to the top you get a chance to stand in line to rub buddha’s statue for any number of reasons. I particularly did not like rubbing the same statue that everyone elses’ dirty hands had been on =/

After climbing near the top of the mountain I took this photo overlooking one peak and the land below - very nice views from up here.

I liked the pics, but I liked the last one best. In the last photo What is that building setting on top of the ledge on the right of that photo.

Glad you liked them. Not sure, we couldnt go up to that building, but it looks old and is a part of one of the temple buildings on the mountain. Perhaps a simple storage area for important religious symbols or other.
