Nike Dreams, Proud City Campus
The weekend flew by as I prepared for my upcoming trip back to the USA. It’s amazing to think that I have to buy things to ensure my proper survival in the place I lived for over 26 years of my life.
Sunday I played basketball like every past weekend since May. These 3-4 hour basketball-a-thons are good for the health - both physical and mental.
However, this weekend was a bit different because we were unable to use the court after 10:45AM. Nike was sponsoring an all day 5-on-5 tournament at the public park and came prepared with a sound system, tents, bleachers, chairs, signs, and best of all - new nets for the goals. Considering that Nike paid for the basketball courts to be built there in the first place, I held no hard feelings for them asking us to move along unless we intended to enter the tournament.
Alas I didn’t have all day available and not enough wing men (or women) to make a team. But perhaps next year?
Below is another poster I recently saw in the subway of the Tokyo Metro.

This poster says “Proud City Campus” and lists this upcoming weekend as the date of the event. Essentially it is a big gathering of the best food from around Japan. Not only is it Japanese style food but it will also feature other ethnic style dishes. Looks like you can try anything from Pakistani to Brazilian flavored food and drink.
Food in Japanese is “tabemono”, and drink in Japanese is “nomimono”. These two words are perhaps the most important parts of the hungry visitor’s vocabulary… if you happen to be in town this weekend I bet it would be worth dropping by this “Proud City Campus”.
