Yosakoi Weekend
This weekend I traveled to Sendai to visit with my new brother in law. Ayako and I had fun telling him about the funny wedding day stories as we ate and drank the two nights away.
During the day Sendai was having a large Yosakoi festival which Makoto was a part of. Yosakoi is a very uptempo Japanese-style choreographed dance. Makoto’s team was the largest with 150 people - and it had one of the largest flags.

In fact, I think the flag bearers have perhaps the hardest job of all the team. If you want to get in shape - try waving one of those giant flags around for 8 hours a day during back to back performances!
Here is a quick compilation I made of the video we took of Makoto’s team - they were really energetic and fun to watch
We had a great time watching all the dances, from the team of all women ranging 3 years to 60 years of age, to the team of all deaf dancers - the non-stop performances were definitely a new experience for me.
