My Name in Kanji

Here it is, a birthday present I received from my basketball team members. Basketball shorts that match my uniform with my name in kanji sewn in.

Charles in kanji

These 4 kanji, when read correctly, give the same pronunciation as my name (as far as Japanese people are concerned). The first kanji is “cha” the second is “a” the third is “ryu” and the last is “zu” effectively making the sound of “chaaryuzu.”

As for the translations… not very flattering haha. The second kanji really doesn’t have a meaning, but the first is “tea,” the third is “manner / style,” and the last is “head.” So it might mean my manners are like someone with a head full of tea. :)
