Some photos of our trip to Kyoto:

Capsule Hotel - a special type of hotel in Japan. Small beds in a shared hallway, with a shared bathroom. Super cheap, and surprisingly not a bad location.

The Golden Temple, Kyoto.

Kiyomizu Temple, Kyoto

Some of the landscaping midst the hills of Fushimi Inari shrine.

Yesterday Sendai, Today Tokyo, Tomorrow Kyoto

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

It’s a hectic schedule this week. I’ll post a few photos tomorrow when I’m sitting inside the Shinkansen (bullet train) with Ben on our way to Kyoto. We’ll be staying in a capsule hotel in Kyoto, so looking forward to giving you a review of that.

Snow in Tokyo

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Left the house around 5AM this morning on my way to work - and was surprised to see snow and ice on the ground!

On Sunday, Ayako and her parents came to Chiba by car bringing Mia and a […]

What did I do over the Christmas / New Years break?

I went to Gunma, where my wife’s parents live.

We ate and drank with family to celebrate the new year. This year, we returned to the fugu restaurant at the top of the tallest building in Maebashi.

A tail of fugu inside this warm Japanese sake.

Went well […]

wha-what weird japanese video

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

Rob pointed me to this video and asked the quintessential question: “WTH?”
I agree…

It appears to be a bunch of really random stuff. Although, I must say there is a strange pattern of including things that say “mimi” みみ also sometimes written ミミ which can mean “ear” and there are several weird large-eared faces all throughout the […]
